Dear Parents/Guardians,
In lining up with the new Common Core testing and Smarter Balance your student will begin taking classroom tests on the computer for both science and social studies. This change will require that your student have their own email address or have use of parent email address. They will not need the password for email accounts since a separate password will be created for tests.
There are other options available on this website however, I will ONLY be using the test taker. Grades, assignments and attendance will continue to be available through ABI.
The process is as follows.
1. Students will go to www.classbuilder.com.
2. On this page there will be a place for parents and students. Class ID is: deborahrodriguez
3. On the top right hand side there will be a Students & Parents: Login Here.
4. Once in the login page, students will enter their email address (or parent email) and a password that I will assign them.
5. If a new test has been posted for your student to take, it will show the link on this page. If there are no tests posted, students can still log in and review previously taken tests.
6. Once students have finished taking the test, they will submit it the teacher. I will review the scores and make comments if necessary. Students will be given the chapter test during our normal class time. There will be exceptions to using the computer to test on a case by case basis. Paper testing will be provided for those exceptions.
7. Those students who need the test questions read to them will still receive that assistance. Students will be allowed to use textbooks and reading packets for both social studies and science tests.
Benefits of using this program for students to test are numerous. The test is immediately graded which will reduce the turn around time. Test grades can be emailed to parents along with the test. If a student is absent then the test can be taken from home, which will reduce time lost in instruction for make up testing. Resources such as paper and ink will be greatly reduced.
I had previously sent out a notice regarding students using the Quizlet program to study for tests. This program is exceptional since it reads the flash cards to the student.
Procedures to use Quizlet.
1. Go to www.quizlet.com
2. At the top of the page is a search option. Type in drodriguezsms then click on the search glass.
3. A list of flashcards available will appear. Choose the set that is currently being studied.
4. Then choose Flashcards tab.
5. On the right hand side is a toogle for the audio. For cards to be read, the audio must be On.
6. Below the flashcards are arrows to go to next card or return to previous card. By clicking anywhere on the card, will flip the card to reveal answer.
7. The Scatter game is also a fun way to check mastery.
Please return the attached form with your student. We will have our first test using the computer beginning the week of April 29.
Any questions or concerns, please contact me at 951-696-1406 or

Sincerely,
Deborah Rodriguez
